What Rendezvous Hotel Singapore is
Rendezvous Hotel Singapore by Far East Hospitality stands at 9 Bras Basah Road, in what the hotel’s own site, fetched 29 September 2026, places within Singapore’s Arts and Heritage district. The same page states that wedding guests are within a five-minute walk of Bencoolen, Bras Basah and Dhoby Ghaut MRT stations, and the hotel’s own hotel-information page describes it as a 298-room property.
According to the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s conservation portal, the site sits within the Bras Basah Road Conservation Area, made up of nine conserved pre-war shophouses fronting a modern tower block. Three of the shophouses – numbers 7, 8 and 9 – date to 1903, when Lermit & Westerhout designed them for Lee San Teck; URA notes they differ from the rest of the row in design. The same source identifies the ground-floor premises of Nos. 4 and 5 as the former home of the Rendezvous (Hock Lock Kee) Restaurant, which served nasi padang from the 1950s.
A National Library Board digital story, Bras Basah: A Place for Food, last updated 25 August 2026, adds that the restaurant began as a coffee shop before it served Chinese and Western food to British forces, and that its then-owner, Seah Soo Khoon, brought in a chef from West Sumatra to start serving nasi padang as the restaurant’s British clientele declined during the 1950s. The same source states that the restaurant moved away from Bras Basah Road in 1987, and that the hotel later built on the site took its name from the restaurant.
Spaces the hotel lists for weddings
The hotel’s weddings page identifies the Symphony Ballroom as a reception venue. The room’s own detail page, fetched 29 September 2026, states it is on Level 2, offers 290 square metres, and has a high ceiling; its capacity chart gives separate figures by layout: 240 guests in a banquet layout, 300 guests in a standing cocktail layout, and 250 guests in a theatre layout. Ask the hotel which layout applies to the guest count you have in mind.
The second space on the weddings page, Canvas II, is described as a 36-square-metre room suited to a private solemnisation, with glass windows that the page says allow natural daylight. Its own capacity chart lists Canvas II at 30 guests in a theatre layout, matching the “up to 30 persons” figure given on the page.
The current wedding package
The weddings page links to a brochure named Timeless Rendezvous 2026/27 Wedding Packages. The document itself states that its rates are valid for weddings held by 31 December 2027, so this is the current package at the time of writing. Its floor plan names the Symphony Ballroom alongside Canvas I, Canvas II, the Origami Room and the Drawing Room on the same floor, though only the Symphony Ballroom and Canvas II appear as individually described wedding venues on the hotel’s own weddings page; ask the hotel how the other rooms shown on the floor plan are used for a wedding.
The brochure states a minimum of 12 tables and a maximum of 16 tables of ten guests each for its banquet package. Ask the hotel how these table limits apply within the Symphony Ballroom’s own capacity chart described above. Inclusions the brochure lists include a tasting session for up to 10 persons, floral arrangements and a model cake for the cake-cutting ceremony. The brochure separately lists the use of up to 30 Tiffany chairs for a solemnisation as one of several optional “Signature Perks” a couple may choose from, rather than a standard inclusion. The pages reviewed for this guide do not state a photography or videography inclusion in the package.
A civil solemnisation at Rendezvous Hotel Singapore
For a civil marriage, a solemnisation held at Rendezvous Hotel Singapore would be an offsite ceremony under the rules set out by the Registry of Marriages at marriage.gov.sg, requiring the hotel’s agreement, a licensed solemniser, and completion of ROM’s application, declaration and marriage-licence steps. Coordinate the proposed venue, date and time with the hotel and your licensed solemniser before finalising arrangements. ROM’s own guidance recommends booking a solemniser three to six months ahead of the date; ROM notes solemnisers may not be able to commit to a booking earlier than this. The marriage application itself may be submitted online no earlier than six months and at least 21 days before the solemnisation, with the 21-day notice period counted from when the application is submitted and the fee is paid.
ROM’s own sites are separate from a hotel wedding: as at September 2026, the Registry of Marriages operates from The Esplanade Mall while its Canning Rise building is redeveloped, and a second ROM venue, the Ficus Room at Gardens by the Bay, holds a maximum of 40 people including the couple and witnesses. What the hotel states about photography and vendors
The pages reviewed for this guide, including the weddings page and the Timeless Rendezvous 2026/27 brochure, do not set out a photography or videography policy, and do not state whether a couple may bring their own photographer or videographer or whether outside vendors need approval beforehand. The brochure lists floral arrangements, a model cake and a tasting session among its inclusions, but does not mention a preferred-vendor list or a photography credit. Ask the hotel’s wedding sales team directly whether outside photographers and videographers are permitted for your booked space, whether a site visit is possible beforehand, and whether Canvas II or the Symphony Ballroom can be used for portraits outside your booked time.
Light and setting
The hotel’s own page for Canvas II describes the room as having glass windows that let in natural daylight, without stating which direction the windows face or how the light changes through the day. The Symphony Ballroom’s own page mentions a high ceiling but does not describe windows or natural light in the room.
The pages reviewed for this guide do not list an outdoor space among the hotel’s wedding venues.
