What Fairmont Singapore is
Fairmont Singapore stands at 80 Bras Basah Road, within Raffles City. Raffles City itself was developed on the former Raffles Institution site. Roots.gov.sg, the National Heritage Board’s heritage portal, records that the school, founded in 1823 as the Singapore Institution and renamed Raffles Institution in 1868, had its original building on Bras Basah Road, and that this building was demolished to make way for Raffles City. The school moved to Grange Road in 1973 and to its present site in 1990.
A separate Roots.gov.sg record of the resulting development states, in its own account of the government’s 1980s urban renewal plans for the civic district, that Raffles City officially opened in October 1986 to a design credited to architect I. M. Pei. Fairmont Singapore’s own site describes 778 guestrooms and suites, and places its wedding and meeting space within Raffles City Convention Centre. The hotel’s weddings page states in one place that this convention centre offers over 108,000 square feet across 34 ballrooms and meeting rooms combined, but its own frequently-asked-questions answer separately counts 3 large ballrooms and 34 meeting rooms, which would total 37 rather than 34. The pages reviewed do not reconcile the two counts, so treat the total room count as unconfirmed; Swissôtel The Stamford’s own weddings page, which also markets this convention centre, gives a combined figure of 34 rooms and ballrooms, closer to Fairmont’s first count. Ask the hotel directly for the current total.
Spaces the hotel lists for weddings
The hotel’s own weddings page names the Fairmont Ballroom, the Atrium Ballroom and the Stamford Ballroom, together with the Fairmont Foyer, as venues for a wedding, and separately lists the Bras Basah Room, the Bailey Room and the Wilberforce Room among its meeting rooms.
Two official sources give a surface area, ceiling height and theatre-style figure for these rooms, and the two do not always agree, so ask the hotel’s team to confirm before you plan around either set of numbers. Fairmont Singapore’s own capacity chart, fetched 29 September 2026, lists Fairmont Ballroom at 2,257 square metres with a 6-metre ceiling and a theatre-style figure of 3,000; a Swissôtel factsheet PDF, whose own URL names it as the 2023 edition, gives the same room, on its page 3 capacity chart, as 2,257 square metres with a 6.1-metre ceiling and a theatre-style figure of 2,850. For Stamford Ballroom, both sources agree on 810 square metres, but Fairmont’s page gives a theatre-style figure of 850 against 800 on the 2023 factsheet. For Atrium Ballroom, Fairmont’s page gives 494 square metres, a 2.8-metre ceiling and a theatre-style figure of 400, while the 2023 factsheet gives 500 square metres, a 2-metre ceiling and a theatre-style figure of 450. For Bras Basah Room, Fairmont’s page gives 1,484 square metres and a theatre-style figure of 156, while the 2023 factsheet gives 150 square metres and a theatre-style figure of 150; the large gap in surface area for this one room looks as though it may be an error on the Fairmont page, but this guide states both figures rather than choosing between them, so confirm the room’s actual size with the hotel. The banquet figures agree across both sources: Fairmont Ballroom at 1,800 guests, Stamford Ballroom at 480 guests, Atrium Ballroom at 320 guests and Bras Basah Room at 80 guests.
These three ballrooms sit inside Raffles City Convention Centre. Fairmont Singapore’s own weddings page names this complex as the setting for its event space, and the neighbouring Swissôtel The Stamford separately markets the same convention centre on its own weddings page and ballroom listing, each with its own request-for-proposal contact. Confirm the contracting hotel and booking contact with whichever team you are dealing with, and which rooms are available for your date and guest count.
What the current wedding package states
Fairmont Singapore’s current wedding package brochure, titled “Fairmont Wedding Packages 2026/27” and fetched 29 September 2026, covers wedding banquets held by 31 December 2027. For its Wedding Lunch Package, the brochure sets a minimum number of tables per ballroom: 15 tables for Atrium Ballroom, 25 tables for Stamford Ballroom and 70 tables for Fairmont Ballroom, based on 10 persons per table.
The same package includes a one-night stay in a Bridal Suite with breakfast for two persons, and a parking lot reserved for the couple’s bridal car at the hotel’s main entrance. It also includes a menu-tasting session for ten people, held from Monday to Thursday, excluding public holidays and their eves, along with a model wedding cake for the cake-cutting and a champagne toast, but the pages reviewed for this guide do not state a photography or videography inclusion or policy within the package. The brochure notes that the hotel reserves the right to amend package details without prior notice, so confirm current terms directly before booking.
Civil solemnisation: general Registry of Marriages guidance
The Fairmont pages reviewed do not confirm solemnisation availability. The following is general ROM guidance for a civil ceremony at an independently confirmed venue: a solemnisation away from a Registry of Marriages site is an offsite ceremony requiring the venue’s agreement, a licensed solemniser and completion of the Registry’s application, declaration and marriage-licence requirements. If a hotel agrees to host your ceremony, coordinate the proposed venue, date and time with the hotel and your licensed solemniser before finalising arrangements. The Registry says bookings can be made 3 to 6 months before the solemnisation date, and ROM notes that solemnisers may not be able to commit to a booking earlier than this. The marriage application itself is submitted no earlier than six months and at least 21 days before the solemnisation, with the 21-day notice period counting from when the application is submitted and paid, and two witnesses above 21 must attend.
The Registry of Marriages’ own onsite locations are separate from any hotel wedding. According to marriage.gov.sg, its site is at The Esplanade Mall, a temporary location as at September 2026 while its Canning Rise building is redeveloped, and it also operates the Ficus Room at Gardens by the Bay. What the hotel states about photography and vendors
Fairmont Singapore’s own frequently-asked-questions section, fetched 29 September 2026, states that its catering team can also serve events held away from the hotel. The same page lists its event spaces as three ballrooms, 34 meeting rooms and 12 restaurants and bars, without singling out a photography or outside-vendor policy for a wedding. The pages reviewed for this guide do not state whether a couple may bring their own photographer or videographer, or whether an outside vendor needs approval beforehand, so ask the hotel’s wedding team directly.
The hotel’s weddings page refers to a dedicated wedding-planning team it calls its Romance Team, but the pages reviewed do not describe this team’s role in relation to a couple’s own photographer. Ask whether a site visit or rehearsal is possible before your date, and whether any of the ballrooms can be used for portraits ahead of the reception programme.
Light and a wet-weather plan
Fairmont Ballroom, Stamford Ballroom, Atrium Ballroom, the Fairmont Foyer and the meeting rooms named on the hotel’s weddings page are indoor spaces; the pages reviewed for this guide do not name a dedicated outdoor ceremony space at Fairmont Singapore, and do not describe windows or natural light in any of the ballrooms. What to ask before you book
Ask the wedding team which of the ballrooms and meeting rooms are available for your date and guest count, whether Fairmont Singapore or Swissôtel The Stamford is the contracting hotel for your booking given the shared Raffles City Convention Centre space, whether outside photographers and vendors are permitted, and, for any portraits taken outside the hotel, ask whether an indoor alternative is available and what conditions apply.
