What The Barracks Hotel Sentosa is
The Barracks Hotel Sentosa is run by Far East Hospitality at 2 Gunner Lane, Palawan Ridge, Sentosa Island, Singapore 099567, according to its own location page, fetched 29 September 2026. Its homepage, fetched the same day, describes the property as “once a British artillery outpost” that has since been restored, part of a Far East Hospitality enclave that also includes Oasia Resort Sentosa, The Outpost Hotel Sentosa and Village Hotel Sentosa. The same homepage’s description of its Heritage Audio Tour dates the hotel’s barracks buildings to 1904 and mentions personal anecdotes from army veterans who served there. The hotel’s weddings page separately describes the Events Centre building as restored from former military barracks and offering over 1,300 sqm of indoor and outdoor space. The pages reviewed for this guide do not link either description to a named record on Roots.gov.sg or NLB Infopedia.
Barracks Lawn: capacity, package and weather
Barracks Lawn, the hotel’s own venue, is given at 608 sqm on its own page, fetched 29 September 2026, with a capacity chart of Banquet 280, Buffet 240, Classroom 300, Cluster 156, Standing Cocktail 450 and Theatre 400; the page’s headline of up to 450 persons matches the Standing Cocktail figure, not the lower Banquet figure. The hotel’s wedding package for this venue, labelled for weddings in 2025 and 2026 and fetched the same day, states a minimum of 200 persons and a maximum of 260 persons; its linked brochure repeats these figures and states that its rates are valid for weddings held by 31 December 2026.
The package page describes an air-conditioned glass marquee; the brochure’s own inclusion list mentions only an air-conditioned marquee, without the word glass, so ask the events team to confirm the exact structure. The same brochure lists, among its inclusions and without naming which space this is, a solemnisation venue for 30 persons; ask the events team to confirm the exact ceremony space, including whether Barracks Lawn itself can be used. The marquee is a package feature rather than a stated wet-weather guarantee: for any outdoor portion of your day here, ask whether an indoor alternative is available and what conditions apply.
Shared Events Centre and Village Hotel Sentosa spaces
Revelry Hall and the Breakout Rooms are in the shared Events Centre, and Village Square and The Commune are at the adjacent Village Hotel Sentosa; all four appear, with matching sqm and capacity-chart figures, on the neighbouring Outpost Hotel Sentosa’s own weddings pages as well as on this hotel’s pages, fetched 29 September 2026. This hotel’s own Revelry Hall package page, labelled a 2025 package and fetched 29 September 2026, gives a minimum of 100 persons for a lunch booking or 120 persons for a dinner booking, with a maximum of 160 persons. Its linked brochure, fetched the same day, is a 2027-dated package valid for weddings held by 31 December 2027, and gives Revelry Hall a flat minimum of 120 persons and a maximum of 160 persons. Revelry Hall’s own capacity chart separately gives a Banquet figure of 200. Ask the events team which document and which figure currently apply to your date.
Solemnisation and a civil ceremony here
The hotel’s gallery, part of its weddings page and fetched 29 September 2026, names the Heritage Courtyard and the Outdoor Pavilion, said to hold up to 40 guests, as settings for a wedding ceremony. The Barracks Lawn package brochure separately lists, among its inclusions and without naming the venue, a solemnisation venue for 30 persons; confirm the exact ceremony space with the events team, including whether Barracks Lawn itself can be used for a solemnisation.
For a civil marriage, a solemnisation here would be an offsite ceremony requiring the hotel’s agreement, a licensed solemniser and completion of ROM’s application, declaration and marriage-licence requirements through marriage.gov.sg; offsite ceremonies may take place on weekends and public holidays. Coordinate the proposed venue, date and time with the hotel and your licensed solemniser before finalising arrangements. Submit the marriage application no earlier than six months before the solemnisation; the 21-day notice period begins once the application is submitted and paid. Arrange two witnesses above 21. Photography and drone rules on Sentosa
Sentosa’s own FAQ page, fetched 29 September 2026, states that filming and photo shoots for personal use are allowed on the island without a permit, while a commercial shoot needs one. A separate entry on the same FAQ page states that all filming and photography requests must be submitted at least 10 working days in advance for approval; ask Sentosa how a commissioned wedding photography or videography shoot by your vendor is classified under these rules, and when to submit your request. The same FAQ page names Tanjong Rimau, at Siloso Headland, and Mount Serapong as biodiversity sites where a permit is separately required for photography, filming or other activities.
Sentosa’s FAQ states that recreational drone flying is strictly prohibited on the island, and that a commercial drone operation needs Sentosa’s prior approval, requested at least 10 working days before the planned activity. Any drone flying must comply with CAAS Operator Permit and Activity Permit requirements.
What to ask before you book
Before booking The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, confirm the following with the events team:
- Which capacity figure on Barracks Lawn’s own chart applies to your layout, and whether the current package’s guest range of 200 to 260 persons fits your guest count.
- Whether the air-conditioned marquee is included for your date, and, for any outdoor portion of the day, whether an indoor alternative is available and what conditions apply.
- When photographers, videographers and other vendors can access Barracks Lawn for setup, and whether outside vendors are permitted.
- Which venue is meant by the solemnisation venue for 30 persons listed in the Barracks Lawn package, and whether Barracks Lawn itself can host a solemnisation.
