When the domain lewinterrace.com.sg was checked for this guide on 27 September 2026, it no longer showed a restaurant site but a notice that the domain is for sale. The domain notice does not establish whether the restaurant is operating; use the park’s current venue listings below to explore a Fort Canning wedding. Fort Canning Park in brief
According to the National Heritage Board’s Roots portal, the hill was once known as Bukit Larangan, Malay for “Forbidden Hill”, and was the seat of Temasek, a 14th-century Malay kingdom; Keramat Iskandar Shah, a tomb on its eastern slope, is believed to be the resting place of Temasek’s last king. The Roots article ‘Remnants of Former Gate and Wall of Fort Canning’ records that the fort was decommissioned in 1907 and mostly demolished in 1926 for a reservoir, leaving its entrance archway, a wall fragment and a pair of cannons. On 1 November 1981 the hill was renamed Fort Canning Park, marked by the planting of a jelutong tree by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. NParks gives the park’s size as 22 hectares.
The venues NParks lists at Fort Canning Park
NParks’ venues-booking page lists these spaces, with bookings managed by Parkhouse Collection by 1-Host:
- Raffles House & Lawn: a conserved colonial house at the top of the hill, with an air-conditioned indoor room of about 100 square metres and an outdoor lawn of about 1,000 square metres; NParks gives capacities of 80 standing indoors and 150 standing indoors and outdoors combined. The managing agent lists it for wedding solemnisations.
- Raffles Garden: two lawns at the foot of Raffles House, for up to 500 seated or 1,000 standing.
- Fort Gate: a lawn of about 4,500 square metres beside the remains of the old Fort Gate, for up to 600 seated or 2,500 standing, which NParks lists for carnivals, concerts and weddings and says can be booked with the neighbouring Old Married Soldier’s Quarters.
- Old Married Soldier’s Quarters: a restored building once used to house married British soldiers and their families, which NParks lists for wedding receptions among other uses, with an indoor space for 40 seated and an outdoor area for 400 seated or 1,000 standing.
- Fort Canning Green: a large lawn that NParks lists for 500 seated or 7,000 standing, suited to concerts, movie screenings and carnivals.
- Lawn@The Foothills: an open lawn at the foot of the park, for up to 500 seated or 1,000 standing.
- Function Hall@L2, Fort Canning Centre: an indoor hall in a former British army barrack, for 150 seated or 180 standing, each with a stage.

Booking rules, sound and vehicles
NParks says all bookings must be made one month before the event date, treats Friday to Sunday as peak and Monday to Thursday as off-peak, and suggests a site recce. The managing agent lists standard four-hour blocks of 8am to 12pm, 1pm to 5pm and 6pm to 10pm, including setup and tear-down, and full-day bookings from 8am to 10pm; Raffles Garden and Fort Canning Green each have a full-day minimum. Its conditions prohibit sound checks and music before 8.30am or after 9.30pm without NParks’ approval. NParks’ general terms for the park separately prohibit amplified sound or music between 10.30pm and 9am unless approved, so confirm which cut-off applies to your booking.
The same terms require NParks’ prior approval for vehicle entry, normally restrict approved entry to weekday loading and unloading between 9.30am and 4.30pm, and prohibit entry on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays without prior approval. They also require permission from NParks and the relevant authorities before alcohol is consumed or sold. Plan the bridal car, vendor vehicles and any drinks around these rules.
Solemnisation and photography in the park
For a civil marriage, a solemnisation here would be an offsite ceremony requiring the venue’s agreement, a licensed solemniser and completion of ROM’s application, declaration and marriage-licence requirements; offsite ceremonies may take place on weekends and public holidays. Coordinate the proposed venue, date and time with the venue and your licensed solemniser before finalising arrangements. Submit the marriage application no earlier than six months and at least 21 days before the solemnisation, and arrange two witnesses above 21. ROM’s history page records that ROM itself was housed in Fort Canning from 1961 to 1983; as at September 2026 its sites are The Esplanade Mall and the Ficus Room at Gardens by the Bay.
NParks’ Fort Canning Park page asks for a Park Use Request form for group activities, including solemnisation and proposal requests. One note on the page points photography and filming requests to NParks’ on-location filming permit, while another includes photography and filming in the Park Use Request, so ask NParks which applies to your plans. NParks’ permit page lists Fort Canning Park among the locations excluded from its small-scale permit route and asks for applications at least one month ahead, while its photography page gives two weeks for commercial photography or filming; confirm the deadline with NParks. Rain and choosing a space
Most of these spaces are lawns. Raffles House & Lawn has an air-conditioned indoor room, the Old Married Soldier’s Quarters has an indoor space and the Function Hall is indoors; for an outdoor booking, ask whether an indoor alternative is available and what conditions apply — NParks or the managing agent can confirm — and agree the plan with your photographer.
